The purpose of this online self-assessment is to help unpaid carers to identify what help and support they might need with their caring role and to highlight things that may help you including providing links to local resources.
An unpaid carer is someone who helps one or more adults with some or all of their activities of daily living (such as getting out and about in the local area or getting washed and dressed) in an unpaid role.
As part of this assessment, carers are able to identify whether they may be eligible for support from the council and if so, they will have the option to send details to the council for a full assessment of their situation.
Following assessment by the council, eligible carers may receive an annual carers payment to help them with their own personal health and well-being.
Carers may also be able to get respite, a short break from their caring duties. This could be in the form of day services or residential care for their loved one.
